DRAKE "I DON'T FUCK WITH MOTOWN AT ALL"

High rising Toronto based star Drake spoke numerous times and even in a sudden interview about his upcoming debut, his link to wavy rapper Lil Wayne and his newly signed record deal in the upcoming August issue of the magazine Fader.

In the interview, Drake addressed that he did in deed accept a million dollars for his publicized deal. In the month of June, he signed directly to his manager Cortez Bryant's company Aspire. He then inked a distribution deal with Universal Republic, after been courted by a variety of different other labels. "I went through Universal Republic because I don’t fuck with Motown, “ he explained to Fader. “At All.”

It's now apparent that Drake has a personal vendetta with Sylvia Rhone, who in fact is the president of Motown Records and the executive vice president of Universal Records – the parent label to mentor Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint. In his song "Say What's Real" from the mix tape So Far Gone, Drake actually stated the situation: “I’ve always been something that these labels can’t buy/especially if they trying to take a piece of my soul/and Sylvia be telling Tez/Damn, Drake fly/and he just be like, ’silly motherfucka I know‘”

Well according to the article, during the "Drake bidding war", Rhone threatened the rapper with legal action if he went elsewhere. People like Sylvia do shit like that all the time, because they feel they are superior.

Drake has made it clear though that the Young Money logo will appear on his cd, but only out of respect for the man that embraced him, Lil Wayne. I respect the fact that Wayne put me in this position,” he said. “But as an artist I have to do my own thing at this point. I’m not sure if that’s gonna be a struggle in the next couple of month, to set myself apart. I don’t want it to feel like a disrespectful thing, but I know it’s a bridge that I’m going to cross as far as becoming my own person.”

For talk's of the album, Drake has Kanye executive producing, and he has already been in the studio with artist such as Rihanna, Pharrell, Jay-z, Trey, and Kanye.
